Ethiopian Airlines provides two daily flights from Addis Ababa Bole International Airport to Lalibela, making it the quickest and most convenient option. The morning flight arrives in Lalibela around noon, while the midday flight departs Addis Ababa shortly after lunch. Each flight takes approximately 55 minutes. During peak tourist seasons, such as Ethiopian Christmas (Genna) on January 7 and Epiphany (Timket) on January 19, additional flights are available. Tickets can be booked online, at Ethiopian Airlines offices, or through travel agents. Upon arrival at Lalibela Airport, a 30-minute drive will bring you to the town or your accommodation, such as Tukul Village.

By Road
For those with time to explore Ethiopia’s countryside, a road trip to Lalibela is a rewarding journey. The route from Addis Ababa showcases breathtaking landscapes, with dramatic mountains and lush valleys. The trip is best enjoyed over two days, with an overnight stop in Dessie, about 400 km from Addis Ababa. Starting early the next morning, you’ll reach Lalibela after lunch, making the most of the scenery along the way. Be sure to pack snacks and drinks, and plan to stop at picturesque spots to truly immerse yourself in the beauty of Ethiopia.
